The 6 P`s.......

Tony at home in his garage

"Proper Planning Prevents P**s Poor Performance!"

I`ve been formulating lists for the past few months and by this stage I should be spending most of the time ticking them off. So how come I`m adding as much as I`m ticking off!! The recent poor weather has affected my plans to get work done on the bike and I must admit that I expected to be much more up to speed with all things mechanical than I am at the moment. Successes so far include:- - upgrade standard horn to a mighty 132 decibel (they`ll certainly hear me coming!) - upgrade seat - install sealed unit battery - complete 12,000 mile service (including fitting Iridium spark plugs and K+N air filter) Still to complete:- - change steering head bearings (big job!) - check valve clearances (big job!) - fit off road tyres and heavy duty inner tubes - upgrade to heavy duty DID X ring chain - fit LED rear bulb - upgrade footpegs - learn how to use the BMW diagnostic tool, and generally learn how the bike operates and how to fix it when it goes wrong! So, fairly easy really!
All the above has and is being worked on with the help of Tony Evers, who is not only a superb mechanic but also a man of immense generosity of spirit. He has worked tirelessly for many, many hours attempting to get me from a raw novice to someone capable of surviving on his own. His patient wife Ren just keeps supplying us with endless cups of tea and sympathy. It all seems to work in Tony`s garage, but what about the Dalton Highway in Alaska? Hmmmm. We`ll see! Put it this way, I`m on a very steep learning curve.
